The Candidates

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald (D)

  • Ed FitzGerald supports raising the minimum wage so that hard working Ohioans can earn enough to make ends meet.
  • He stood with workers in the fight against John Kasich’s SB 5 and believes strongly in the right of workers to stick together and bargain for a better life.
  • He will restore cuts to education and local communities and prioritize tax cuts for working families, not the wealthy and well connected.

Governor John Kasich (R)

  • John Kasich cut education funding by $500 million to fund tax cuts for the wealthy. This forced teachers and policemen out of work and increased local taxes.
  • He signed SB 5 into law – an unsafe, unfair bill that stripped rights from every worker in Ohio and was repealed decisively by voters.
  • He made access to health care nearly impossible for poor and middle-class women in Ohio.
